I have had many people ask me about the origin of "Carnation Lane" so I thought I would be vulnerable and share my deeply personal connection to my business name.
The pink “Carnation” is emblematic of a mother's unwavering love and devotion. It represents gratitude, appreciation, and bravery. These values serve as a foundation where people can feel safe to tackle some of their most difficult challenges and improve their world. They also reflect my passion for family work and my desire to support families in their growth. Ironically, the pink carnation was also the favourite flower of my late mother, the person who always grounded me, and instilled in me the kindness and compassion to support others on their wellness journey.
The term "Lane" signifies a pathway or journey. The therapy process is quite the journey that takes time, exploration, and courage. The journey is non-linear, and we often don’t know what’s around the corner in striving for wellness, however sharing in that journey with someone safe and consistent is vital in reaching our potential.
When people step into the therapeutic space, it should be safe, contained, and free of judgment. This is the environment that my mother fostered, and it underpins the space I strive to create in therapy. The small blue butterfly featured in my logo serves as a tribute to my late mother, providing me with a profound sense of grounding and humility.
I am continually humbled by the work I do and am truly grateful for the trust that so many individuals have placed in me throughout their journeys.
